KEASHA BEARD

How did you start making music for Christ?
I’ve been writing poetry my whole life. I have an intense infatuation with words to the point that I read the dictionary and thesaurus on a constant basis.  I’ve always  day-dreamed of being involved with music because I am such a fan of music, but I never thought I was “good enough” to be a performer. When I finally decided to surrender my life to Christ and “die to self” in 2015, everything in my life started to fall into place. I began to understand who I was and what I was created for. I began to understand how God could use me for his glory. I had been on a 3 year writing block and finally, words began to flow through me. I was writing poem after poem for like 2 months. One evening, I was writing in my living room and the Holy Spirit directed me to rap the poem I was writing. Honestly, I thought it was outlandish because I had never pursued rap before. However, I tried it and it was terrible! I couldn’t quite find the beat and I sounded like a robot. I kept working on it every night and I began to get better.
I finished my first  song “Undercover Liars” and after positive feedback that I got back from friends, I knew that I needed to keep pursuing it. I prayed for guidance, sought the bible every day, and it was insane how the doors began opening and lines began to cross. Going through this process I knew this was divine intervention. I began recording my first album in February 2016 and its been on ever since.
The learning process, the trials, and the flights have been such an amazing experience.

Do you think it is important to monitor the music our youth listens to?

I think its important to monitor music for all ages. Children listen to music that their parents and/or guardians allow. Music is a form of worship and worship is a lifestyle. Music is a strong influence that impacts our hearts, minds, attitudes, and spirit. We listen to music when we’re sad, happy, excited, angry, in celebration – its even used in commercials. Music is often impossible to escape. Therefore with something that impactful and that prominent, it seems thoughtless to not monitor what is being taken into our subconscious and our spirit. With all of that being said… since its an act of worship, I think its important to understand who and what we’re worshipping when we listen, sing, and dance to music. And we definitely have a responsibility to our children, making sure their minds and spirits aren’t compromised.
What is your favorite scripture?

My life verse is Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”
In May 2015, I made up in my mind that God and his kingdom will be first in my life. I seek God in every single aspect of my life before I make a decision or act. I will worship him and him alone. He will be the alpha and omega to my world. And since I made that decision life is better. So much better.

What is grace to you?

Jesus is the definition of “grace.” Everything I am, everything I have is because of him. I don’t deserve any of this and he still blesses me with life. That’s grace.

Any shotouts?

First and foremost, I thank God and pray he gets all the glory for this! Shotout to my family and friends for supporting me and believing in the work God is doing in me. Shotout to Moshae Beats for all the work we’ve put in. Shotout to my church family(Integrity Life Church) for giving me lots of encouragement and their prayers. Shotout to my fans who love my music and support the mission. All of you are so dope!
