Christian Artist Interview: Torrence Jordan
How did you start making music for Christ?
I was told by my family that at a young age I would always rap with songs i heard on the radio (of course not christian songs lol) and said that I was going to be a rapper. I been saved all my life but everybody else was rapping those "secular songs" and that's all I heard, so I wanted to fit in lol. I always loved music from a young age and was always interested in how they would rap plus how beats were put together. It was in 2007 that I started to mess around with my uncles keyboard trying to make beats and when I began to get the hang of it around 2008, I wanted to sell them but then i got the suggestion that I should rap on them. So that's what I began to do and then I really began to realize and pay attention to the lyrics of music being put out wasn't building up but was a bunch of poison being heard. The "secular music" is pushed so hard that even those that are saved are bombarded with the music and gravitate to it. I realized it's bigger than just rap but lives are at stake, I said to myself "I must have a message to inspire in my music".

Also to add to the first question: When i began to do music doing music for Christ was a no brainer. I knew how it changed my life giving me hope, peace, joy, love, etc. and that's what I want to spread to each life that hears my music.
Do you think it is important to monitor the music out youth listens to?
It's very IMPORTANT for parents to monitor the music that these youth are hearing these days as much as possible because music is so influential. It's even important for any saved person to be careful and monitor the music we listen because through our ear gate is another way different spirits can come in so we have to be careful. When they hear filthy music being pushed in their ears over and over from every direction it possible can get to them because that's the plan of the enemy, it's taking over the minds and has the youth thinking in a way that's crazy and then they go out and began to act out what they continue to hear. On my new project called "Resurface" which will be out soon, I have a song called "Music Is Power" and I talk about this very thing.
What is your favorite scripture?
It's hard to pick one favorite scripture because I have many but I will say Proverbs 3: 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to Him,
and he will make your paths straight. I choose this one because i find myself at times trying to rely on my own understanding and trusting in what I may know or see. So this scripture keeps me reminded to walk by faith and not sight, Father God knows all and sees all. I find as I continue to trust in the Lord he NEVER fails me!
What is grace to you?
Grace to me is Jesus Christ! When God could've just let the enemy destroy us but Jesus continues to intercede for us. He continues to give us another chance after chance for us to live the way pleases Him because 2 Peter 3:9b Amplified Bible (AMP)
9b but the Lord is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
Also, when i think about His grace, it reminds me that I didn't earn His grace but it was freely given and i'm not going to take it for granted. He continues to even allow us to enjoy His blessings everyday! I thank Father God(the True and Living) for His grace and mercy each day!
ANY SHOUT OUTS
My shoutouts: I give Father God all the praise and honor first, because He made this all possible! I thank my mom, grandparents, my fam, my church fam (Life More Abundantly Ministries, Inc. here in virginia beach, va) and to all who supports the music God gives me, I thank Father God for all of you and I don't take you and your support for granted! I just want to say THANK YOU!
I also want to note that music is not the only problem with society and the youth but plays one of the major influential roles in inclining and declining.
